First Pump® FSP/FSPR Vertical Centrifugal Sump Pumps

First Pump® FSP/FSPR Vertical Centrifugal Sump Pumps are a specific type of vertical slurry pump designed for sump, tank, pit or any ground slurry applications where space is limited and the pump needs to handle abrasive, corrosive, or high - density slurries.

These vertical slurry pumps serve vital roles in minerals processing, coal preparation, effluent handling, sand and gravel, chemical processing, sugar beet, fly-ash, and aggregate applications.

Our First Pump® FSP/FSPR vertical slurry pumps can process particles up to 65mm in various slurries. For deep sumps or when high shaft speeds limit pump length, add a bottom - inlet suction extension pipe to extend depth by up to 2m.

These pumps exhibit superior versatility as they are available in two distinct types: the metal-made First Pump® FSP and the rubber-lined First Pump® FSPR, both of which are well-suited to meet the requirements of most pumping abrasive and corrosive applications.

First Pump® FSP All-metal Vertical Slurry Pumps

The First Pump® FSP pumps are our all-metal type within the range of these vertical slurry pumps.

The wet-end parts of the First Pump® FSP pump come in the form of high-performing alloys and elastomers. This configuration ensures it can withstand wear from tough-sharp particles to the greatest extent possible. Such particles are typically present in substances like iron slurries, high - chrome slurries, or coal slurries.

Vertical sump pumps featuring alloy parts are most appropriate for dealing with slurries that have large and/or sharp particles. These particles have the capacity to rip elastomers.

First Pump® FSPR Rubber-lined Vertical Slurry Pumps

The First Pump® FSP pumps are our rubber-lined type within the range of these vertical slurry pumps.

The lining of the pump and the parts that come into contact with the liquid being pumped are made from a variety of natural and synthetic rubbers. This means the pump can endure wear for a long time, and in the long run, it won't cost you much to operate and maintain.

If you need to handle ores like sand, gold or uranium, which have soft and rounded slurry particles, vertical sump pumps with rubber components, like the First Pump® FSPR pump, are the ideal choice. In normal use, the rubber parts of these pumps can last several times. longer than metal parts.

First Pump® SP/SPR vertical sump pumps are known for their excellent performance of handling abrasive and corrosive slurry and reliability in various industrial applications. Their features and benefits include:

1. Structural Features and Benefits

Fully Cantilevered Structure: First Pump® FSP and FSPR pumps feature a fully cantilevered design. This eliminates the need for submerged bearings, packing, lip seals, and mechanical seals. As a result, maintenance is simplified, and the risk of failures associated with these components is reduced.

Unique Impeller Design:

  • The pumps are equipped with unique double-suction impellers. Fluid flow enters from both the top and the bottom. This design not only eliminates the need for shaft seals but also effectively reduces the thrust load on the bearings, enhancing the overall durability of the pump.

  • For handling large-sized solids, large-particle impellers are available. These impellers enable the pumps to pass unusually large solids, making them suitable for a wider range of industrial applications.

  • An optional high-efficiency recessed impeller is available, especially for precious ores like those in gold processing. With 5 or 8 vanes, this impeller induces flow in a way that avoids damaging the ore pieces or breaking them into finer pieces.

2. Component Durability

Bearing Assembly: The bearing assembly is designed with maintenance in mind. It consists of heavy-duty roller bearings, robust housings, and a massive shaft. This combination ensures reliable operation and long-term durability, even under demanding working conditions.

Casing:

  • FSP all-metal pumps are equipped with a heavy-walled, abrasive-resistant 27% chrome alloy casing. This casing provides excellent protection against wear and tear when handling abrasive slurries.

  • FSPR rubber-lined pumps have a molded rubber casing adhered to sturdy metal structures. The rubber casing offers good resistance to abrasion and corrosion, while the metal structure provides the necessary strength and support.

  • Column and Discharge Pipe:

        * In metal pumps, the columns and discharge pipes are made of steel, ensuring high strength and durability.

        * For rubber pumps, the columns and discharge pipes are rubber-covered, providing protection against abrasion and corrosion.

3. Particle Management

  • Upper Strainers: Snap-in elastomer strainers are installed in the column openings. These strainers prevent overly large particles and unwanted refused from entering the pump’s casing, safeguarding the internal components of the pump.

  • Lower Strainers: Metal pumps are equipped with bolt - on cast strainers, while rubber pumps have molded snap - on elastomer strainers. Both types of lower strainers protect the pump from oversize particles, contributing to the smooth operation of the pump.

4. Operational Advantages

  • Reduced Risk of Blockages: The First Pump® FSP/FSPR vertical sump pumps are designed with screened inlets and large impeller passages. This design effectively reduces the risk of blockages, ensuring continuous and efficient operation.

  • Long Wear and Service Life:

Available in a wide range of metals and elastomers, these pumps can be customized to suit different slurry types. Specialists can recommend the most suitable materials based on the specific slurry characteristics, thereby

Prolonging the pump’s wear life.

The robust cantilever shaft and the double-suction, semi-open impeller design further improve the wear life and performance of the pump.

  • Superior Versatility:

         * Optional suction extensions are available, offering a cost - effective alternative to lengthening the pump beyond the standard cantilever length.

        * Motor mounting orientation options include shaft-up, shaft-down, and direct-connected, available in most sizes.

        * With a small footprint, these pumps only require a small sump size, making them suitable for installations with limited space.

  • No Priming Required: Thanks to the top and bottom inlet design, the First Pump® FSP and FSPR vertical slurry pumps are ideally suited for “snore” conditions, eliminating the need for priming.

  • Zero Ancillary Water Costs:The vertical cantilever design of the pumps has no gland or submerged bearings, which means there is no need for expensive gland flush water, resulting in cost savings.
