Selection And Design Considerations of Feeding Pump for Plate And Frame Filter Press
According to the special working conditions of the feeding pump of the plate and frame filter press, if the feeding pump of the filter press adopts a flat feature, the following problems will occur: in the early stage of pump startup, that is, the feeding stage, the pump operates at a large flow rate, causing serious cavitation, generating significant vibration and noise, and bearing a large downward radial force load. During the pressure holding period, the pump operates at the dead center and the pump components bear a significant upward radial force load. In each working cycle of the filter press, the shaft, bearings, and shaft seals are installed. Therefore, it is required that the steeper the characteristic curve of the feed pump of the filter press, the better. The feed pump of the filter press is a pump for special working conditions, and its design requirements are as follows.
1) The filter press pump operates within the full flow range and requires a sharp decrease in the characteristic curve to reduce the flow deviation coefficient k, thereby reducing the radial force f of the pump.
2) The mud density is 1.2~1.3x 10kg/m. Wear is not the main issue, we can consider increasing the pump speed N. Increasing the speed is beneficial for increasing the steep drop in the pump characteristic curve.
3) Meanwhile, the blade outlet angle should be reduced during the design process β 2. Blade outlet width B2; The axial projection is inclined, and the blades extend towards the inlet, increasing the static distance s to obtain a steeper pump characteristic curve.
4) The pump is required to have good cavitation performance when operating within the full flow range; The service life of components, shafts, and other components should be verified and calculated according to more severe working conditions. Meanwhile, the selection of the motor should also be calculated based on the larger power of the pump.
5) The choice of transmission form should be to choose a pump with direct transmission instead of belt transmission, to avoid the additional radial force generated by increasing belt tension on the axial components.
6) The pressure requirement of the filter press is generally 0.6~1.0MPa, and the pressure from the feed pump of the selected filter press to the inlet of the filter press must be within the pressure requirement range of the filter press. If the pressure is too low, the moisture content exceeds the standard, making it difficult for the cake to form and not conducive to discharge; If the pressure is too high, the filter cloth will be damaged.
